Laila Kaka’s Story

My name is Laila Kakar, and I live in Kata Khil village, Deh Sabz district. My family lives in a rented house. After my father passed away, I became responsible for supporting my family. My mother developed severe mental health problems after his death, and her treatment is expensive. I also care for my younger brother and sister. Life became very difficult. We lived in poverty, and I could not find stable work. To earn an income, I started weaving mitts, but it was not enough to cover our daily expenses and my mother’s treatment. The financial and emotional burden left me feeling hopeless, and we received no support from any government or private organization. One day, staff from Rain Peace Organization (RPO) visited our home to assess our situation. They listened carefully, understood our challenges, and offered support. Their kindness gave me hope when I believed no one cared. Through RPO, I received a pair of goats. Raising them has provided a source of income for my family and improved our living conditions. I can now contribute to my mother’s treatment and better support my younger siblings. This assistance restored my confidence and gave me hope for the future. I sincerely thank UN Women and RPO for their support. Their assistance has not only changed my life but has also benefited many women and girls in Kata Khil. Through RPO’s educational seminars, we have gained knowledge, confidence, and the belief that women can build better futures for themselves and their families. On behalf of myself and the girls of Kata Khil, I express my heartfelt gratitude to RPO, UN Women, and all those who supported this initiative. Your support became a light during our darkest days and inspired us to work toward a brighter future.
